23 And Older
Our team of experienced Service & Support Administrators (SSAs) are dedicated to helping adults of all ages identify their life goals through tools like Charting the LifeCourse.
Our SSAs help adults with Medicaid waivers develop an Individual Service Plan (ISP) and determine what they want out of life.
Activities to consider include post-secondary education, part or full-time employment, volunteering, personal relationships and Advocacy and Special Olympics programs, independent living, including Intermediate Care facilities, DODD (Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities) and Electronic ICF Informational Booklet.
Residential Living
There are a wide variety of residential service options for adults with developmental disabilities in Miami County. From looking for a new home to finding extra support around the home, our SSAs help adults find the right option for them. SSAs coordinate residential supports, which are provided by our provider partner agencies.
Some of the residential options available include shared living, in-home support, adult family living, and assistive technology and remote support services. Options are also available through Intermediate Care facilities (see links: DODD Online Search Tool for Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and DODD (Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities) Electronic ICF Informational Booklet on current website)
LifeCourse Tools
Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) was originally created by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Institute for Human Development, Missouri's UCEDD (University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities). We have modified it to help those we serve determine their definition of a fulfilled life.
Employment Training & Support
In Miami County, people with developmental disabilities can explore a variety of careers. We collaborate with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities and local service providers to create successful experiences for the person and the business.
Community Connections
Our Community Connections activities promote the emotional, physical, and social health of those we serve. Geared toward supporting people of different abilities, backgrounds, and interests, our activities encourage independence, inclusion, and friendship. By connecting with local community groups, area schools, and volunteers, our programs teach self-advocacy, life skills, and safety.
Special Olympics
Advocacy
At the Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD), we encourage the people we serve to learn more about speaking up and making informed decisions in their lives. Through monthly meetings, conferences, workshops and information sessions, our Adventures in Advocacy members gain the skills they need to become their best advocates.
Aktion Club
Aktion Club is a community service club for adults with disabilities. It provides members opportunities to develop initiative and leadership skills and to serve their community. As a member, participants attend regional conferences and trainings, serve to participate and are due to the Aktion Club Advisor. For more about Miami County's Aktion Club, please contact us.
