Housing

In Miami County there are a variety of living options for adults with developmental disabilities. Whether someone is looking for the perfect place to call home or needs extra support at their current residence, our dedicated staff helps those we serve find the right options for them.

As the County Board, MCBDD coordinates all residential supports for the people we serve and our network of service providers provide the support.

In-Home Support
Focused on Homemaker/Personal Care (HPC) Services, in-home supports offer both independence and safety.

In each home, service providers help the people we serve develop and maintain independent living skills, such as personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning and more.

Depending on each person's level of care, these supports are provided on an as-needed basis, ranging from a few hours a week to 24-hour care.
Ohio Shared Living
Ohio Shared Living is often called OSL for short. It provides an option for someone with a developmental disability to get the support they need while living with a paid caregiver
Choosing a Place to Live
A person with a disability has the right to make choices about their life. They have the right to make choices about where they live and who they live with. Some people choose to live and get the services that help them live their lives in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) operated by the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD)

Supportive Technology
Supportive Technology offers people with developmental disabilities personalized help with daily tasks at home or at work.

Assistive Technology (AT) can support a person who wants to be more independent with devices like stoves that turn off when not in use or alarms for reminders to take medication.

Remote Support, covered by Medicaid waivers, uses 2-way communication, like Skype or FaceTime, so a person can talk with their service provider, even when the provider is not in the home. The service also includes supports like sensors that can call for help in the event of a fall or cameras that show who is at the door.
